Alberta is collecting seizure data

Alberta tobacco tax guidance says law enforcement officers must report all contraband tobacco seizures to Tax and Revenue Administration under section 24.2 of the Tobacco Tax Act, and asks officers to complete the reporting form within 72 hours.

Why it belongs in the Bill 208 record

AGLC reports 240,584 contraband tobacco cartons seized in 2024-25 and $14,435,040 in tax avoidance on its contraband information page. Access rules should not be debated separately from illegal-channel measurement.

Tax justice ask

Put seizure reporting, tax avoidance, and legal-market displacement beside any Bill 208 recommendation.
